What is the correct running technique for someone with flexible flatfoot?
November 5th, 2008 | by DistanceRunner |juniperL13 asked:
I’ve watched some videos on proper running technique, but I’m not sure if they’re supposed to apply to just people with normal arches or to everyone. The main thing that’s confusing me is the whole “landing on your midfoot” thing. I naturally walk and run on the balls of my feet, and I’m not entirely sure how to land on the midfoot. If someone could point me in the direction of some tips or, better yet, a video clip, I’d be very grateful.
To clarify: I have flexible flatfoot. That means that my arches are normal until I stand up, at which point they touch the ground. I have the opposite of high arches.

you may want to consider othotics for arch support if you have a high arch. If you don’t want to go through that you could look at a a motion control shoe that has a tendency to have more support through the middle of the foot.
Its important to have the right running shoe. So I would go hand have them fitted properly by someone who knows hot to fit running shoes. Go into a store and tell the sales person you have a high arch and wish to have a good shoe to help support your high arch.
If the sales person looks at you with a blank deer int he lights look you are in the wrong store. GET OUT and find another store.
