How can I fix my running form, because it is more of a jump than a run?
March 3rd, 2008 | by DistanceRunner |My coach told me that while I run, it is a jump rather than a run. How can I fix this? This ultimately destroys me at running and destroys my full potiential. Also, my legs are in pain and are killing me during my run, but they don’t hurt anymore when I stop running. Do I need to use my knees more or what?

this probably means that your stride is too long, try taking shorter steps and pump your arm harder. if this is a problem, try the weight room once or twice a week to get your arms stronger so that you can pump harder. if you get your stride shorter and your legs still hurt you should stretch more because flexibility is crucial in running

Try having a long stride but fast turn over rate. that may sound weird but it works. You stay lower to the ground plus you’ll be able to accelerate faster.

Running uses more muscles than your legs. Try to get your coach to help you run with the proper form. You should have good posture, and pump your arms. To solve the jumping problem, think about trying to get your body forward rather than up. Try jogging, and using the balls of your feet to push off with each step. You don’t want to run on your toes for a long run, only for sprinting, because you are using different muscles. Overall, get your coach to work with you and do some exercises for strength training and proper form. One thing I can recommend is to get some small weights, 5 pounds should be good, and stand in front of a mirror and pump your arms as if you were running. You can also do this jogging in place, but pay attention to how you move your arms and your posture.

The others pretty much said it all. I’ve heard and have always done in distance, land on your heel and roll off to your toes and push off your toes, but not to fast like a sprint (where as in a sprint it’s almost all toes) have coach get someone with good form to run beside you and no what makes a good form, like the info the others said.
