What is the best way to return to running after 10 years of not running?
January 1st, 2008 | by DistanceRunner |A question for people who have gotten back into running after years of inactivity- How did you do it? 10 years ago Id jog 4 hours a day, and was a running addict, 10 years late, and 30 pounds heavier, I am trying to get back into running, but its so hard to find the motivation. I know I have to lose the weight- its a big reason i need to run again. But its getting over the intitial ‘hump’ thats so hard.Ant suggestions on exercises to help me get back into a routine of running?

Start out with a smaller distance than you want your final goal to be. Start off by walking the distance, then gradually increase the amount of time you run during that distance. After you can run the entire distance, increase the distance length and then your time. Good luck!

baby steps…set goals, stick to them.
start on a 1/4 mile track, run the straights/walk the turns for a half hr.
build on this until you’re up to 5 miles of solid running- then switch to cross country.

you have to be patient. it is not easy to force your self to run again after 10 long years you stop it. is better to exercise not only your physical appearance but also your emotional to. have dicipline by eating vegetables and non fat foods. also consult your doctor for more imformation regarding to your health.

Ship,
You know what the answer is. The hardest part is getting started.
After 10 years of inactivity, you aren’t going to run four hours. Start of slow and work your way back up.
Forget what you did 10 years ago, that’s over. Do 30 minutes 4 days a week.
NO EXCUSES!
